• Company founded as a joint venture between P & O Containers, ABP and Ben Line

1986

• Thoughput 286,000 TEU

1989

• First post-panamax crane delivered and commissioned

• Throughput 343,000 TEU

1991

• Ben Line sold to EAC Line, P & O Containers acquired Ben Lines 10% shareholding. Shareholding became P & O Containers 51% and ABP 49%.

1993

• 3 new post panamax cranes commissioned.
• Development of additional 15 acres of land.
• Throughput 500,000 TEU.

1996

• 2 new post-panamax gantry cranes commissioned.
• Dredging of berth 207 to 15m completed.

1997

• 3 new post panamax cranes commissioned
• Main channel from Fawley to berth 207 dredged.

1998

• P & O Container Line shareholdings transferred to P & O Ports.
