VBS - Notes for Drivers

Print Terminal Map
On Arrival at the Terminal
- The driver must enter the Pre-Gate within the booking window.
- Stopping at the barrier, the driver will enter the vehicle’s registration and the VBS reference into the barrier console.
- The booking will then be confirmed and the instruction to proceed will be given.
Instructions will be to:
Proceed to the Pre-Gate exit via a respective transfer area queuing zone, i.e. T1, T2 or T3.
When the container is for the Empty Park the instruction will be to proceed via the fast-track lane (see Export Containers via Empty Park below).
If there are no transfer slots available in respective transfer area, the driver will be instructed to queue in the respective T1, T2 or T3 queuing zone within the Pre-Gate. When a slot is available a marshal will instruct the vehicle to proceed.
- If the driver needs to deliver shipping notes they should park in T1, T2 or T3 Pre-Gate Area queuing zone and place them in the respective post box and then proceed to the exit.
Single Interchange Document (SID) Allocation and Seal Check on Arrival
- Seals will be checked and SIDs issued in the Pre-Gate Area.
- Slots are allocated at the entrance to the transfer area.
Transfer Areas
- The position of each transfer area within the terminal is indicated on the terminal map.
- At the entrance to the transfer area the driver must enter the vehicle registration into the console and will be provided with a slot number.
- The driver is then requested to re-enter the slot number, to confirm understanding of the instruction.
- If there are no slots available the driver will be asked to wait at the console until a slot becomes available. The system works on a "one out one in" basis.
- When a slot becomes vacant the driver will proceed to the slot to be serviced.
- Once serviced, the driver proceeds to the exit, if an import container has been collected the seal number must be entered into the system before leaving the terminal.
Export Containers via Empty Park
- If the VBS booking is for dropping off an empty container and collecting an import container, the system will provide the details of the transfer area for the collection of the import container. The drivers will proceed through the Pre-Gate Area using the assigned transfer area queuing lane.
- The driver will proceed as per the transfer area process, but will visit the Empty Park before going to the transfer area.
- If the driver only has an export container and it meets the criteria of the Empty Park, then the driver will be directed to the designated lane in Pre-Gate and will be fast-tracked.
