The Simplified Vehicle Booking System (VBS) provides the haulage industry with the fast, efficient and consistent level of service the industry requires.

VBS minimises the significant peaking of lorry arrivals experienced historically, allowing DP World Southampton to match demand with machinery supply.

The system allows for the flexibility required by hauliers to optimise their service to their customers and provides a very cost-effective way to plan and organise the movement of container cargo from end to end.

At DP World Southampton VBS is used in conjunction with a sophisticated method of allocation of transfer areas and slots to service the vehicles making the best and most efficient use of all of the terminal's facilities.

By using VBS, all information about the lorries trip to the terminal is recorded on the system. Prior to arriving details of the containers to be dropped off or collected, any special requirements and the planned time of arrival are available. On arrival the entry of a VBS reference number will trigger the system to direct the driver to the most appropriate transfer area for his service requirements.

VBS is fully supported by specially trained staff with experience and knowledge of the terminal systems and the haulier business.
