Increased globalisation and changes in the world economies are fuelling increased volumes of containerised transport and demanding alterations in global logistics.

DP World Southampton, with its eye on the future, is continually developing and adapting to meet the demands of ever larger vessels requiring quicker turnaround times and the increased need to move units by rail as well as road.

Currently the terminal operates 13 gantry cranes, over 100 straddle carriers, 6 sprinter carriers, 8 empty container handlers, and a fleet of small vehicles on a 24/7 and 363 days per annum basis.

In 2009, DP World Southampton took delivery of two new super post-panamax gantry cranes (in addition the two super post-panamax gantry cranes commissioned in July 2008), 15 Kalmar straddle carriers and 8 Ferrari empty container handlers.
